Nelson Mandela by Shepard Fairey first came to life as a 10 story mural in South Africa, the artist's first project on the continent. 

 

Now in partnership with the Mandela legacy organizations a new signed, numbered limited edition silkscreen print of Nelson Mandela has been produced by Shepard Fairey. The official portrait of the Mandela centenary it was unveiled at the Smithsonian Museum of African American History & Culture with a keynote by President Obama and Honorable Ms Graça Machel.

A limited number of prints are now available to galleries and collectors.

President Obama and Graça Machel discussed Nelson Mandela’s legacy and the future of Africa as a part of the Mandela 100 Legacy celebration at the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
