Originally enlisted as a driver to the artist and show producer Grace Jehan, Stagg's responsibilites grew to include: staffing, elephant research and permits, street teams, alcohol sponsorship, guestlist, media and art sales.
The monumental scale event was attended by 30,000 in 3 days and featured heavily in all international media.
TAI | THE ELEPHANT ^
Tai the elephant ignited a firestorm of controversy bringing huge attention to the show. Contrary to media reporting Tai was not "spraypainted" but gently hand-brushed with natural bristles and non toxic kiddie face paint, many many containers. The laborious process took 5 people all day to apply the first coat and several hours of touch-up each day. It's worth noting elephants have been painted in india for many centuries with no ill effects. Tai was a key crewmember with the best disposition of anyone as long as there was a good supply of Peanut M&M's on hand. For the record, all animal welfare permits were approved by LA Animal Control weeks in advance of the event.
